Pumpkin Pie Playdoh

I am going to be really honest, we were church ditchers yesterday. EEK! Stephen has been really sick and was up most of the night Saturday night coughing and I didn't want to sit by myself, so we skipped. (But we still read the Bible with Olive, sang songs and prayed) It was so dreary and rainy outside, I decided that Olive and I needed to do something fun. Thank you Pinterest for always having an idea available! I found a Pumpkin Pie Playdoh recipe here, http://www.momentsofmommyhood.com/search/label/fall%20crafts
and luckily we had all of the ingredients on hand A MIRACLE! So we headed into the kitchen to start working. Olive loved the mixing of the ingredients and wanted to add them all herself.
First step, flour
LinkSecond step, salt.
and a little more salt...
Her absolute favorite part was stirring. "Stiiiiiiir"
Adding the cinnamon!
Mixing in the food coloring
Patiently waiting for it to finish cooking and enjoying some animal crackers and milk. And, yes, she is wearing her sparkly black and silver tennis shoes with her Princess PJ's. She is a fashionista. We got it out to play with the first time and it was a STICKY MESS! Daddy had to come in and help us add lots and lots of flour, then we put it in the fridge to let it "harden" a little. She was so excited to finally play with it today! "My punkin playdoh!"
You can tell it is still a little sticky. We will probably try a different recipe next time and just add the spices. All in all, it was a success and it smells SO good! Apparently it tastes pretty good too, because Wrigley gobbled up the pieces that fell on the floor and Olive kept licking her hands when we finished playing until we got them washed off! :)
