Happy Birthday Malee!

Sunday was a very big day in Oklahoma City! Malee the elephant turned ONE! To celebrate this milestone, the zoo threw a huge birthday party complete with cake and party favors for all of the guests and an elephant friendly cake for Malee herself! Olive adores Malee and believes that they are close, personal friends, so we knew we had to make it to the party. Daddy hadn't slept the 2 nights before because of the storms (more on that later) so Auntie Mica joined us for the big event. We got there a little early, so Olive entertained herself by playing the "music buttons". The zoo really went all out and had several local bakeries create cakes for the event. I was only able to get pictures of 3 of them, but there were at least 6 total.
Our favorite was this adorable elephant from Nothing Bundt Cakes!

Olive had been talking all morning about eating a "brown coopcake" for Malee's birthday, so that is exactly what she got!

YUM!

The party favors were these really awesome elephant ear hats. Olive refused to wear her's, but Mica and I were big fans of the ears!
After the human festivities, we headed over to the Elephant exhibit to see the birthday girl herself...
Here are Olive and I with the guest of honor.
We loved getting to see Malee enjoy her cake and perform in her show. Auntie Mica bought Olive her own little Malee and she couldn't have been happier about it!
After the elephants, Olive wanted to go see the fishies, so we headed to the aquarium. She was fascinated by the sea lions and kept squealing "he is so silly!"
We ended our fun day by letting her splash in the water in the Children's zoo. She was one of three kiddos there, so she kind of got to do whatever she wanted. Usually it is super crowded, so I think she enjoyed taking her time and splashing around.
We tried to get a few pictures of her with the little elephant statue, but this was as good as it got.

Happy Birthday Malee!! Thanks for letting us celebrate your special day with you!

Easter at Pop's

After a quick nap in the car, we headed over to Pop's for more Easter fun. Uncle Chris and Uncle Shawn had come into town that afternoon and Olive was excited to see them. We spent a lot of time playing in the front yard and Olive found a little bug in the driveway that she was very concerned about. This may be my favorite video of her EVER!

Luckily Daddy was there to save the bug by putting it in the leaves.
We had a yummy supper and then it was out to hunt for eggs! It had gotten a little dark, but that didn't bother Olive at all!

Once she had found all of the eggs, she went in to check out all of her loot!

Cheese!
We hope that your Easter was as great as our's was!

Easter fun!

We had a great Easter! Olive woke up to find her special Easter basket full of goodies waiting for her!She spotted little Rosie and Percy and took them straight to her tracks to start playing. She didn't even look at the rest of her basket!
We got ready for church and had just a few minutes to try to snap some pictures. Rosie and Percy had to be in the pictures too!
Daddy and his sweet girl!
Mommy's girl...full of giggles!
Our family of 3! (Thank goodness I have learned how to set the timer on the camera!)
After church we headed up to Route 66 Park for our annual Easter celebration with the Wood family. I think this was the 25th annual Wood Easter event and the first time that we celebrated somewhere other than their house, but it worked out perfectly! Olive spent most of the day like this...

Even Daddy and Mica got in on the playground fun!

Sweet Gavin and Olive became instant friends...really Olive became Gavin's shadow. This is pretty much the only picture from the entire day where she isn't following him. We took them over to the pond and walking trail to see the ducks and turtles.
They were so excited to feed the ducks!

And then they scared all of the poor ducks away...
Uncle Isaac had decided that they needed to kites to play with. This was the ONLY day EVER in Oklahoma that there was no wind, so not ideal kite flying weather, but we tried our best!

"Hey Olive! Isaac has one for you too!" I have never seen her run so fast!

So excited to try it out!
Daddy followed her trying to help it catch some wind.

Olive soon realized that chasing a flying kite squealing is much more fun than trying to fly your own!
After the kite fun, she played with bubbles for awhile.

And then we headed back to the playground!

Serving lunch to Honey.
We topped off the fun day with some time on the swings!
Gavin decided to play "duck" and duck underneath Olive while she was swinging. They both thought this was HYSTERICAL!
It was so funny that then they both had to duck from the empty swings!
Mica and Isaac had a special basket full of goodies for Olive that they gave her before we left.
We had such a great day with family and special friends! And this girl was wiped out!
More Easter fun was in store! Stay tuned for our Easter with Pop.
