Lima Beans are the ENEMY!

It is official....Olive HATES lima beans! We now have two foods she doesn't like, lima beans and avacado. I know this seems really mean, but this video makes me laugh. We have a drama queen on our hands. I don't know where she gets it!

*Please excuse the background noise, Stephen was cooking dinner.* :)

What is this green stuff?

Olive got to experience grass for the first time today! Seems like something so simple, but she was in awe! We have put her feet in the grass, but she actually got to sit in it.

Playing in the grass with Daddy.
Snuggling in the grass with Mommy.

Besties hanging out in the grass!

I absolutely love watching her experience things for the first time! It makes the stress of "real life" almost disappear because everything is so new and exciting for her. I can't wait for many more first experiences!

Puffs!

Olive tried "puffs" today for the very first time. Once she figured out how to get them into her mouth, she loved them! It amazes me that when she picks up sticks or leaves off the ground, she has absolutely NO problem shoving them straight into her mouth, but food is another story! This is also the first time she ate in her "big girl high chair". It has been in our basement since before she was born and Dano put it together this weekend. She has gotten a little to strong to sit in the Bumbo on the table these days. My Granny got the high chair for her, which is neat because my Great Grandma (Mama Kate), my Granny's mom, bought me my first high chair. We learned that this summer when we were looking through my baby book.
Here she is enjoying her puffs.
"Oooh! What is this?"

"Mommy, you aren't going to take this away from me when I stick it in my mouth, are you?"

"Hmm...I think I like this! Can I have some more, please?"

Swing, Swing, Swing!

We couldn't resist getting Olive a swing for her own yard since she loved the one at Dano and Honey's so much. So, Dano came down Friday night to hang one in our tree. We don't have any trees in the backyard that would work, so it is in the front yard. She thinks it is the greatest thing ever! Sunday evening she played in the swing for almost 45 minutes! Thank you Dano for hanging it for her!

Happy Birthday Pop!

Saturday was Pop's birthday and we just had to celebrate! He came down and had dinner with us and then we had strawberry cake, his favorite!

Hey Pop! Look! It's a camera!
Helping Pop blow out the candles.
Look at this mischevious face..."I wonder if Mom and Dad will notice if I have some cake?"

"Victory!!" Don't worry, we got it wiped off before she stuck it in her mouth.

Happy Birthday Pop!
We are so glad you chose to celebrate your big day with us. We hope you had a fantastic birthday!

Flower Power

Our good friends, the Berryhills, have this awesome tradition of taking pictures of their son, Alden, every year in the tulips at OU. We decided to steal their idea and do a few of our own. This was an interesting experience because really Olive was more interested in eating the grass and mulch than in smiling. Luckily, we were able to get a few good pictures!

I couldn't believe how big she looks in this picture! She was just sitting up on the bench like a big girl posing!
On Easter, we took her to my parents church because they also have beautiful tulips. I am a little crazy about tulips. I think they are such a beautiful flower. I have told the "lawn boy" that I really want some in our yard next spring. :) I am crossing my fingers that tulips will fit into the master landscaping plan! Here are a few of those pictures from Dano and Honey's church.
This one isn't in the tulips, but it makes me smile. Two words: Pure Joy!!

Thanks to Cindy Wilson for sharing the tutorial with me from www.barefootinthekitchen.blogspot.com, I was able to make the little dress she is wearing. It is a onesie dress, which is basically a dress sewn onto a onesie and it is VERY simple! Thank you Cindy!

Go Cubs Go!

Yesterday was opening day! It is the best day of the season when you are a Cubs fan because you have a lot to look forward to! Thanks to Auntie D and Molly, Olive had some very fancy cubbie gear to wear! Here she is with Daddy getting ready for the big opening game against the Braves.
Talking over the strategy with Daddy. He was explaining to her that no matter what happens or how hard it gets, we watch and cheer.

"Okay, so I sit right here. Then I watch them play, no matter how bad we are getting beat. Okay, I can do this! Go cubbies!!!!"

"What do you mean we got beat 16 to 5?! Oh no!!"

She is learning early how heartbreaking it can be to be a Cub fan!

Olive's First Easter

Hoppy Easter!
I can't believe how big Olive looked today in her Easter dress! She even wore shoes for the first time. Getting them on her was a struggle, but she left them on for most of the time.

Olive got to experience her first "Easter on the Point". We have been going to our family friends, Eddie and Carol's house for an outdoor Easter lunch for over 20 years. We have so many great memories from Easter. Auntie M always had a tendency to get hurt on Easter, but this year she made it through without any injuries! Easter is pretty special to us, not only because of the long held tradition, but Easter Sunday was Stephen and I's first date 6 years ago. I know that seems like a really weird first date, but that was our's! We went to church together and then out to Eddie and Carol's, then to the Collyar's to watch the Sopranos and then home. We spent THE ENTIRE DAY together and still actually went out on a second date! :) I remember telling my mom that I was bringing a friend and being harassed about my "cute friend" the entire day. Thank goodness they didn't scare him away! :)

Here are a few pictures from our afternoon.
Olive needed a little tour of the property, so Dano was the one to show her around.

She thought the spiderman jeep was pretty cool.

Getting her feet dirty! :)
She loved playing on her blanket under the big trees. She picked up sticks and rocks and of course, tried to eat them!

Playing with Auntie M...fun times!
Olive and her friend Cannon hung out on the blanket together.
He thought her shades were really cool.

Honey showed her all of the pretty trees...

and helped her drink from a water bottle! It was hot outside and a girl has to stay hydrated!
Thank you Honey!
She had to show Granny that she hasn't forgotten how to crazy jump!

Later in the afternoon, we went back to Dano and Honey's house because they had an Easter surprise for Olive. Auntie M and Uncle Isaac had surprises waiting for her too, a giant caterpillar and some "goodies" that we will help her eat!

We were so excited to look in the backyard to see her new swing!

Uncle Isaac helped push her and she thought it was so fun!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for my swing, Dano! I love it! Will you hang one at my house, please?!

We are very blessed to have wonderful family and friends to spend the day with. Happy Easter!
