Front Yard Project

This weekend Stephen began working on the front yard project he has been dreaming about since before we bought this house. This is a huge project that will take a while to finish, but stage 1 is taking place now! Hooray! Olive wasn't feeling great today, so we couldn't go outside and "help" so we watched from inside the house. She would sit on the back of the chair or stand up on the window sill and would bang on the window to get his attention. It was so fun to watch her try to get him to look at her.
"Dad! Dad! What are you doing?"

"Yes! He is looking at me!"

"I love you Daddy!!"

Thank you Daddy for your hard work! We can't wait to see the new porch. We are so lucky to have such a talented landscaper that lives here! :)

Movin' and Groovin'

Well, it isn't exactly a crawl, but she is moving!!! I love that with each reach of the arms, there are about 10 wild kicks of the legs. She'll be all over before we know it!

You would think she has won the Nobel Peace Prize, I am so proud!

We Went to The Zoo! The Zoo! The Zoo!

We decided to take Olive to the zoo on Thursday because it was going to be so beautiful outside! We weren't the only ones to have that idea. We heard later on the news that the OKC zoo had set a record for attendance on Thursday...19,500 people! It was very crowded, but we still had a great time. We had to park way out in the Remington Park parking lot and walked about 15 minutes just to get to the entrance.

Here she is seeing her first zoo animal...the rhino! The elephants have gone to Tulsa for awhile to have babies, so the rhinos are in their big cages.

We decided to check out the Oklahoma animals exhibit first. Here Olive is checking out the deer.

Of course, we had to take a picture by the TallGrass sign!

Stephen's cousin, Hayden, joined us for the zoo adventure. Olive loved getting to hang out with Hayden all day! He was a big help and it made the day that much better to get to spend time with him too!

You can't really see it, but on the rock in the background, there is a HUGE tiger. He kept growling at the crowd. It was pretty incredible to hear that sound!
Olive's favorite part was definetly the aquarium. She would kick her legs and wave her arms like crazy! The aquarium buildings were packed, so we made our way through pretty quickly.

We got to check out the new "Children's Zoo" which is really neat! Here we are trying out the "nesting station" where you can sit on a flamingo egg. She didn't really know what to think about that!

She made it almost back to the gate before falling asleep!

We had such a fun day! We can't wait to go back when she is a little older and will really notice the animals. Thanks Hayden for helping to make our day so fun!

Splish Splash I Was Taking A Bath!

Olive made a big discovery today...
how to splash with her arms!
We were having a small "problem" with the kitchen sink (Mommy put too many vegetable peels down the disposal and backed it up) so we put her little bath tub in the big bath tub. One of my friends told me this was much easier because they can splash all they want, but for some reason, we had never actually done it. I am glad we were in the bathtub for the new discovery. She was slinging water everywhere and she was so happy about it! I had to get her out and go grab my camera so that I could capture the pure joy!

Play Date!

On Tuesday, Olive and I went to Oklahoma City for a special play date at Anna's house. Anna's 2 kiddos, Avery and Luke were there and Bethany and her son, Salyer were there. Her other son, Nolan was with his grandpartents, so Avery was disappointed her play partner wasn't there. We had a great time eating lunch and chatting. Avery is a very big helper and had special blankets laid out for the babies. Olive was supposed to play on the blue blanket. Olive was fascinated by Avery and kept smiling at her and talking to her. They had a fun time playing!

We almost left without a group picture! Poor Luke had just woken up from his nap and really wasn't in the mood for a picture.
I feel so blessed to have Anna and Bethany as a part of our lives. It is so fun to think that we have known each other for so long and now our kids are getting to be friends and grow up togethter too! Thanks girlies for the fun day, can't wait to do it again!

I Think I Can, I Think I Can...

Olive is wanting to crawl so badly, she just can't quite figure it out. She has discovered how to get herself up on all fours by going forward from a sitting position, and she can rock back and forth but instead of moving, she belly flops. I think it is amazing to watch her try to process how to move! I would just love to see what she is really thinking. Here she is trying to figure out what to do next.

"Okay, I am on all fours. Now what?"

"Up a little higher, now move!"

"Aw man, belly flop!"

Tag! You're it!

Olive has become obsessed with tags, she loves to chew on them. So, I decided to try to make her a "taggie" style blanket. The first attempt didn't go so well, and the second one is no where near perfect, but she loves it! Precision is a problem for me, so sewing is a bit of a challenge. I am more of an "eye ball it" kind of girl, so I have a lot to learn. Olive doesn't seem to mind though, and that is what matters. She also learned how to play peek-a-boo with it and that has been lots of fun!

Olive,
Today you turned 7 months old! We can't believe that it has been 7 whole months since we first saw your precious face. You are doing so many fun things now. One of those being, not being helpful for Mommy to get a good picture on your month birthday! We tried, but you were acting pretty silly.
"Me? Silly!?"
"You can't be talking about me!"

"Hi-Ya!"

You don't lack for personality!~You are so full of energy these days and we love getting to play with you! You enjoy playing with your toys. Your newest favorite toy is the "sing along stage" we borrowed from Molly. It is a mirror with buttons you can push and lights that light up and sing. We knew you would love it, because it combines your two favorite things, lights and mirrors. You are still trying to figure out the whole crawling thing, getting your feet under you has proven to be really hard. You are enjoying pulling yourself up and standing. We like to hold onto your fingers and watching you take "steps", there is always a lot of crazy jumping involved too. You still like reading books. You enjoy chewing on the pages while we read and you really seem to notice the pictures. You have added the "t" sound and a popping noise to your list of sounds. Your favorite thing to do is still spitting and blowing raspberries. You think it is so funny. You have been going through a stage where you have to have Mommy in your sight, or you freak out a little. This is definitely getting better. You are still really friendly and like to go to family and friends. You love talking to your Daddy, you are super chatty when you are around him. This only seems to be a problem during church. You really like Wrigley and she is getting used to you grabbing her fur. At first, she didn't like it, but now she lets you do it. We hope you guys stay friends. You are a really good eater, which is a relief for Mommy and Daddy! We hope that you continue to like foods! So far the only food you will not eat is avocado. You gag and act like it is the worst thing in the whole world. Right now your favorite fruit is mango and your favorite vegetable is sweet potatoes. You will gobble these up and wait for more. You are very healthy. We went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and you weighed 14 pounds 4 ounces (9th percentile), you are 25 inches long (whopping 15th percentile). We are so grateful that you are happy and healthy. We love you more than we ever knew we could and we can't wait for many more months and years to come! Happy 7 Month Birthday!

Love, Daddy and Mommy
