I Can Kazoo, Can You?

When we went to see Big Smith a few weeks agao, Stephen decided that Olive needed a kazoo. At first it scared her when we would make noise with it, but she has figured out how to "play" it. It is absolutely hysterical! She will walk around blowing in it, and it makes me laugh every time! Here is a little kazoo music for you. I think she has a bluegrass future!

Family Date Night

After dinner tonight, we decided to load up for a "family date" to Rusty's Frozen Custard. I can't believe that it is almost August and we haven't been there yet! Last summer, I practically lived there. Olive loved her some custard in the womb! :) Luckily we ran into some friends there, so they took a family picture for us.

"Um, Dad, what is that?"

"No thanks!"
She shook her head no everytime we tried to give it to her. I guess this could be a good thing!

"I don't like the custard, but I sure love playing on the table!"

"This spoon is really neat."

She would put the empty spoon in her mouth, I guess that is a start!

Walk Like A...Big Girl!!

Olive took her first three steps on Father's Day, but it wasn't until this week that she has really made a go at it. She has been cruising around the furniture and walking if you hold her hands for quite a while. But, on Sunday she started walking more than she was crawling, so we declared it the day that she became a walker. Just in the last few days she has gotten much quicker and every day she gets a little more confident. I love the way she keeps her arms up, kind of like a little gorilla. We are so proud of our big girl!

Sidewalk Chalk

I found sidewalk chalk on sale the other day and thought we should try it out! Olive loved dumping it all out of the container and then putting it all back in over and over. Mommy had fun doodling on the concrete.

I love the evidence that she has been playing in the chalk! :)

What a Wonderful Weekend!!

My cousin, Devin and his wife Yancey came to town this weekend. We had so much fun spending time with them and "showing them around." Yesterday, we kicked off the day with a fun filled, HOT trip to the zoo! It was beyond hot and little miss was a kind of fussy, but she had a good time anyways.

"Auntie M, do you see those snakes?!"
Taking a little break in the shade.

What is that gorilla doing?
By the time we got to the aquarium, she had gone to sleep.
Saturday afternoon we went to Dano and Honey's and Olive played her heart out. Then everyone came to their house for dinner.

Daddy grilled the steaks and chicken for everyone. We think he should open a steakhouse, "Stevie's Steaks".

This morning we all met at Pop's in Arcadia for breakfast. We thought that by going early we could beat the rush, and we were right! By the time we left there were tons of people waiting for tables. And they have a very yummy breakfast! This was our first time to go to Pop's, it is really neat!

This is Granny and 3 of her 4 grandchildren.

The whole crew, we had a really sweet waitress who took a group picture for us. Unfortunately, the mist decided to be in the picture too.

After eating, we did a little exploring. Olive discovered the ice in Honey's cup and LOVED it! She ate almost half a cup of ice.
Stevie made a new lady friend when we were getting ready to leave. He liked her motorcycle. Olive and I were scared he was going to ride off into the sun with her. :)

We had such a great weekend! Thanks for coming to visit Devin and Yancey! Hope to see you again soon!

Take Me Out To The Softball Game!

Stephen had the opportunity to play softball for our church this season. He played in a men's league on Thursday nights and a coed league on Fridays. Olive and I have really enjoyed spending evenings at the ball field watching. Last night, he had his last softball games of the season. Olive and I went to watch the first game. There were several extra players, so Daddy sat out the second half and hung out with little miss. She had a great time watching the game and playing in the dirt with Daddy.
Talking strategy

Then she decided she wanted to crawl around on her own.

I can't tell who is happier in this pic :)

"Hay Is For Horses"

In Norman, we have the "Summer Concert Series" that provides a free concert in the park every Sunday night throughout the summer. We were so excited to hear that Big Smith, one of our favorite bands would be here! Olive has their kid's cd "From Hay to Zzzz" and she LOVES listening to it in the car. So, we couldn't wait to take her to hear them live. They are a "hillbilly band" from Missouri and all the members except for the fiddle player are from the same family.
It was really warm, but we had a great time!

She loved playing on the steps.

She loved dancing with Daddy!

Before we left, Daddy had to buy Olive a "Big Smith kazoo", can't wait until she learns to play that! :) We had such a great night and hope that they come back next year.
